JAMIE KROEGER

Narrative / Canada

Through the creation of jewellery objects, I consider and portray the relationships that exist between humans and outdoor environments.

The narrative develops through careful choice of material and process. Through these elements, I can relay specific personal stories of adventure and challenge that have been collected in twenty years of working and exploring in the Canadian mountain landscape. Retreating to a studio workshop, allows the opportunity to reflect on my time spent outside and realize that with all the highs and lows it brought, it fundamentally affects how I make art and approach the problem-solving situations within it.

Through material, process and concept, I can create object-based narratives that offer another way of observing how a very basic relationship to place can evolve into specific cultures and attitudes.
