IRO KASKANI
Precious? / Cyprus
My work is about designing and making visionary pieces through the synergy of craftsmanship and creativity. Throughout the whole process, from concept to completion; the intention is to successfully create wearable artwork that will be part of one’s personal experience and expression.
Designing and making jewelry feels like investigating form, structure, texture, color, scale, and balance to derive a piece of art with an intimate physical relationship with the human body and convey meanings and messages through its nonverbal language. I strongly believe that jewelry has a communicative power over and above its adorning values and this merit can have a social impact.
Curiosity is the most powerful and motivating factor behind my practice. I’m always curious to see ideas that I visualize to be materialized, to elaborate a concept, to experiment on a certain technique, to compose fine metals with alternative material by challenging traditional notions.
