LUCY SPINK

Environmental / UK

Through my creative practise, I have become more aware of the growing disconnect of humanity from the rhythms of nature and have chosen to express this through jewellery.

My work manifests my sympathy with nature and my understanding of its fragility. I make each piece to be worn close to the body reducing the distance between us and the natural world.

I believe nature is fundamentally precious to the human condition and by combining traditional jewellery techniques with thought provoking, contemporary designs, I hope to engage the wearer into looking at the landscapes we live in in more detail and with greater compassion.

“My aim is to create jewellery which is easy for everyone to wear yet thought provoking in the message it carries. As someone who walks in the countryside and sees the changes in the seasons at close quarters, I want to remind people that our natural environment is precious. Now more so then ever, we need to think carefully about our place in the world”.
